The treatment of organic waste gases with BDO absorbent was studied in this paper for the first time. We systematically investigated the influence of operational variables on absorption efficiency, such as the entrance concentration of absorbed hydrocarbon, the liquid volume of BDO, the gas flow velocity , ratio of volume of liquid to gas, the absorption temperature, and the height of packing-tower. Through the variance analysis of experimental data, we established the primary factors and optimal operation conditions. In addition, the mathematic model of packing-absorption tower was established. And we simulated and calculated the absorption process using the model, which can provide basic data and technical parameter for the industrialization of the treatment of the organic waste gases. The main results of experimental research are as follows:(1) BDO can absorb organic waste gases very well. The absorption efficiency of toluene is greater than 96%. The absorption efficiency of methyl ethyl ketone is greater than 95%. And the absorption efficiency of n-butyl acetate can reach 100%. So BDO is a favorable absorbent for these waste gases.(2) From the analysis of experimental results, we can conclude that the temperature is the most primary factor, and the liquid volume of BDO absorbent and the gas flow velocity are secondary. (3) The optimal operating conditions are obtained in the experiment. Those of toluene are as follows: the volume of liquid is 1.633L/h, the volume of gas is 129.87L/h, and the temperature is 10℃. And those of methyl ethyl ketone are as follows: the volume of liquid is 1.893L/h, the volume of gas is 0.6m3/h, and the temperature is 13℃. Because the concentration of n-butyl acetate cann't be determined, the paper considers that n-butyl acetate can be absorbed entirely.By simulating the absorption process of organic waste gases, we can conclude that the most relative error of the absorption efficiency of methyl ethyl ketone is 4.54%, the average relative error is 2.19%. And the most relative error of the absorption efficiency of n-butyl acetate is 0.80%, the average relative error is 0.32%. And the most relative error of the absorption efficiency of toluene is 4.27%, the average relative error is 2.22%. And then the paper simulates and calculates the absorption process of organic waste gases containing benzene with this model. And it simulates and calculates the absorption process of organic waste gases containing toluene and benzene, and that of organic waste gases containing methyl ethyl ketone and n-butyl acetate.
