Effect On Tar, Harmful Compositions And Taste Of Cigarette With Palygorskite In Tobacco Shred

Palygorskite is a kind of ore with special structure and strong absorption capability. Palygorskite is added in tobacco shred, and the effects of palygorskite on cigarette is studied in detail. Tar and poly-ring aromatic hydrocarbon of mainstream smoke is analyzed ,and we found that the palygorskite is prior to absorbing water, CO and aromatic hydrocarbon, but little adsorption of non-hydrocarbons which is a type of important factors for improving cigarettes' flavor and taste occured. Moreover, comparing to primitive sample, to the cigarettes with palygorskite in tobacco shred , nicotine increases 0.28mg/cig , about 20.29 percent of primitive sample. Meanwhile, water declines 0.93mg/cig, 21.53 percent of primitive sample, and CO declines 0.6mg/cig, 3.64 percent of primitive sample. On the other hand, the aromatic hydrocarbon of tar is lowed by 0.02mg/cig, 4.08 percent of primitive sample. 40.89 percent of benzopyrene of the aromatic hydrocarbon of primitive sample is adsorbed. However the non- hydrocarbons increase 1.90mg/cig. Palygorskite obviously improve cigarettes' flavor, taste and other standards of cigarettes.Cigarettes adding palygorskite in tobacco shred is tasted by provincial taster and the result shows its grade is raised from class B to class A.
