Entermorpha is an edible green algae, widely distributed at east-south of the coast, especially at the coast of Zhejiang province. Entermorpha displays rich nutrients, such as essential amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins and plenty minerals. The edible algae can also be used as medicine, fertilizer and feed, but has not much development in industry up to now. To further utilize the marine resource, to develop the health food and marine drug, to widely use Entermorpha, the chemical composition analysis and bioactivity of the polysaccharide were conducted from four aspects in this paper .1. The nutrient components of the green algae, Entermorpha were studied in this paper, the results showed that the content of crude protein, crude fat and ash were 13. 21%, 1.04% and 21. 87%, respectively. Seventeen amino acids were found in Entermorpha, the content of Glu and Asp was the highest, account for 26.19% of the total amino acid, follwed by the sweet amino acids (Ala, Gly, Ser), occupied 22. 14%. Green algae (Entermorpha) contained 13 fatty acids, and 11 of which were unsaturated fatty acids with a content of 58.18 percents. Linolenic acid was the most abundant essential fatty acid in Entermorpha, with a content of 15.98 percents, followed by oleic acid with the content of 15.98 percents. Therefore, it has a broad prospect to utilize the green algae-Entermorpha.2. Extraction of sulfate polysaccharide from Entermorpha by water method and cellulosase method were studied. The optinum extracting conditions were obtained, the sulfate polysaccharide from Entermorpha can be well extracted by adding 1 part of Entermorpha poder, 60 part of solvent, 8% cellulosase, extracting for 2. 5 h in 50癈 at pH 5.0. To meet the needof industrial production, the modified conditions were achieved: the proportion of dry Entermorpha and liquid was 1:75, extracted for 4 h in 901C.3. The chemical components of the extracted Entermorpha polysaccharide (EP) were analysed. The total carbohydrates, sulfate group, uronic acid and amino glucose were 74. 68 %, 22.70%, 17. 49% and 1.42%, respectively.4. EP was purified by ethanol precipitation, size exclusion .chromatography, ionic exchange chromatography, and two fractions wereobtained: EP1 and EP2. The effects of different concentrate of crude polysaccharide (EP) and one continent with higher recovery (EP2) on immune cell were studied in vitro. The results showed both EP and EP2 have evident in immune enhance activity. EP2 showed higher activity of stimulating the proliferation of cell T and cell B than that of EP. Although both EP'and EP2 have no evident in effects on the production of IFN-Yand IL-2 induced directly by cell T, however, they have significant effects on the production of IFN-y induced by antigen presenting cells. Both EP and EP2 inhibited the production of IL-12(p40) and TNF-a , and promoted the secretion of IL-10 at high concentration.
