NC-machine tool technology based on electronic information technology is the integration of traditional manufacturing, computer technique, sensor technique, control technique, information processing, net communication, hydraulic and pneumatic technique and so on.The NC machine tool manufacturing is an automatic process, in which varies kind of commands from HMI(Human Machine Interface) are processed by computer to control the sequence of operation, displacement and velocity of movement automatically.In this thesis, based on SINUMERIK 802S and taken the train wheel lathe reconstruction in a factory as an example, numerical-control principle and operating methods are introduced.Because of the higher speed and the heavier load of rail way transmission, traditional train wheel curve can not be satisfy the requirement wheel-track dynamics, a mechanical moulding board wheel curve manufacturing machine tool, C8018B type wheel lathe, has to be reconstructed. By means of NC techniques to reconstruct the lathe is not only economical, but also practical. This thesis is mainly on the researches of the lathe NC reconstruction.For this purpose, the following problem must be resolved.1. Drive design, including drive chain design, torque and speed calculations of the motor, etc.2. PLC program design, signal processing between NC controller and PLC controller, as well as PLC and machine.3. Program design of machine part cutting, main problem is the program to cut the boundary contour between circle curve and straight line on the wheel circumference surface using around curve edge cutting tool.4. To solve the problems of the missing pulse and the speed block of step motor drive, because step drive motor of 802S system is an open loop control, it is necessary to monitor the missing pulse and speed block in order to prevent the cutting part (train-wheel)to be damaged.All parameters of the C8018B and train-wheel curve are analyzed, and thesystem parameters and the PLC ladder chart according to the machine operation are designed, besides, the wheel cutting program are also programmed. After many times of commissioning and debugging, it is proved that the reconstruction is successful and can fulfill the techniques demand.The problen of train wheel curve cutting is solved by means of machine tool NC alteration, and that can infuse new vigor to the factory and give out much economic benefit, especially in the train-wheel machining.
