The flue gas and dust discharged by furnace of power plant has caused serious atmosphere pollution. As the state air quality criterion heighten, requirements for clean coal combustion technique have increased. Whether technical renovation, clean coal combustion technique or advanced combustion implement has been introduced to the furnace or not, optimizing the furnace's running is very significative. The optimizing is in order to decrease the contamination and increase the efficiency of coal combustion. Here we adopt the relativity analysis of gray system theory to analyze the relationship between the contamination concentration released by furnace and import factors that determine the combustion. Finding out the optimized running mode of boiler and the most important causes that influence the contamination production are our goals. On the other hand, the dust (the primary contamination of boiler) disposal accelerates the application of static duster. If the static duster has been used for a long time, mechanical failures were frequently found. Further more the causes of those faults are very complicated and the equipments of static duster are in closed surroundings. So most static faults are difficult to be found. Thus dust let out by furnace caused serious air pollution. Here with the expert system of Artificial Intelligence and gray fault analysis technique, we developed an static duster fault analysis expert system, which can find out the static dust faults and their disposals by analyzing the running parameter of static duster. It is helpful for the operator to control the static duster's running and dispose the potential mechanical failures and faults.
