Nowadays, in the manufacturing equipments of our country, the share of numerical control machine is improving constantly, and also it is becoming more and more important in the manufacturing industry. Presently, numerical control machine are widely used in many enterprises, and it has become the key equipment in manufacturing. However, the cost of the initial investment and repairing are very expensive. If there was something wrong with the machine, it would bring us many troubles, such as machine tool down time, production halt and so on. If it wasn't diagnosed and repaired in time, it would bring us much economic losses. Thus, it is very important to improve the accuracy to the fault diagnosis of numerical control machine.In this thesis, the writer first analyzes the cause of the trouble of numerical control machine CAK 6150 and considers the application of the fault diagnosis, than combines FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) with rule-based fault diagnosis expert system to solve the problems of uncertainty and the crossed relationship between the cause of trouble and the trouble itself which occurs in fault diagnosis of numerical control machine CAK6150. Moreover, the writer combines fault trees with the knowledge base of fault diagnosis expert system, and than uses form of fault tree to show the expert knowledge systematically. The knowledge base of rule-based fault diagnosis expert system, which is originated by fault tree, achieves the knowledge acquisition of diagnosis and ensures the consistency of diagnostic knowledge. In addition, the writer uses C++ programming language and object-oriented programming method to develop the fault diagnosis expert system of numerical control machine CAK6150 which has friendly human interactive interface, reasonable reasoning and interpret function. At last, the writer tests the research results using numerical control machine CAK6150 in numerical control practice training center.
