With the development of advanced materials processing technologies, it is necessary to employ computer technology to renovate the traditional foundry industry. The numerical simulation simulates the dendrite growth of pure substance, the dendrite growth behaviors under the different conditions are finely studied, and the mechanism of the dendrite growth is discussed. It may help foundry engineers to optimize the design of foundry technology, predict the formation of casting defects, assure the quality, and reduce the trial-production period and to increase the competition ability of casting products. Based on the theory of metal solidification, The phase-field models of pure substance is derived successfully used to set up a two-dimensional mathematics in consideration of the interface anisotropy and noise. The phase-field simulation program of the dendrite growth is completed on the basis of the Finite Difference method with uniform grids. The dependence of simulation results on the space step, the initial nucleus radius, anisotropy and undercooling studied, and how to choose the values of these parameters is settled.Based on the windows 2000, Visual Fortran 6.0 has been used to set up this simulation system. This system can be used to simulation the dendrite growth behaviors of pure substance.
