Based on the conception of Green Manufacturing, an original idea about Cryogenic Pneumatic Mist Jet Impinging Cooling is put forward in this paper. The kernel of the idea is to use cryogenic pneumatic mist jet impinging including three-phase heat convection, jet impinging and full vaporization to enhance the heat transfer potential of cooling medium and obtain the best cooling effect. According to this idea, some works have been done in this paper: 1. Experimental equipment of cryogenic pneumatic mist jet impinging cooling has been set up. It can produce cryogenic mist jet, which is able to satisfy the requirement of fundamental heat-transfer experiments. 2. Cooling parameters, including cryogenic gas, liquid, temperature of droplet and diameter of droplet, are studied to offer theoretic basis for the next study. 3. Fundamental heat-transfer experiments based on cryogenic pneumatic mist jet impinging cooling technology have been completed. They include transient and steady-state experiments. Through these experiments, the optimal parameters have been found and the high efficiency cooling ability of this kind of cooling technology has been validated. 4. Cryogenic pneumatic mist jet impinging cooling technology has been employed in the grinding of titanium alloy. Grinding forces and grinding temperature are measured. Compared with other cooling methods, its remarkable cooling effect is validated preliminarily.
