Copolymers with core-shell structure were synthesized by emulsion polymerization method with n-butyl acrylate, epoxypropyl methacrylate, styrene, methyl methacrylate and acrylic acid. The copolymers were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and nano Zeta potential analyzer. The synthesized copolymers were used as pigment printing binders and analyzed the printing effects. The experimental results showed that better core-shell copolymers can be synthesized when the core and shell monomer ratio was 6:4, the emulsifying agent was 10%, the initiator was 0.5%, the reaction temperature was 80°C, the core polymerization time was 3.5 hours and the shell polymerization time was 3 hours. The latex particle size was in the range of 80-200nm. The photos of dry copolymers showed that the membrane was smooth and even. The TEM and DSC analysis showed that the copolymers had core-shell structure. The pigment printing results showed that the pigment printed fabric had good crocking and washing fastnesses, good hand and bright colors when the core-shell copolymer emulsions were used as pigment binders.
