Polyacrylate is a kind of binder which is widely used for pigment printing, because it has good diaphaneity and excellent adhesion. However, when it was applied for fabric pigment-printing, excellent rubbing fastness and hand feeling can not be acquired simultaneously. Because it was brittle under freezing and viscous under warming. So in order to solve the problem between rubbing fastness and hand feeling, organo-silicon was reported as modifier for polyacrylate binder because it had many advantage such as excellent softness, water resistance and air permeability, low viscosity and surface tension. The organo-silicon modified polyacrylate emulsion had excellent printing properties.A novel emulsion with core-shell structure was prepared by means of seeded-emulsion polymerization and used as fabric pigment-printing binder. The monomers including methyl methacrylate (MMA), n-butyl acrylate (BA), methacrylic acid (MAA) and hydroxyl silicon (OH-PDMS) and Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA).The synthesised results indicated that the optimum polymerization condition for emulsion preparation was determined as emulsifier 5wt%, initiator 0.6wt% and temperature at 75-80℃at first then the mixture was heated to 85℃for 2h after all of the monomers were added. The emulsion binder had narrow diameter distribute and good acid and base resistant property and centrifugal stability. The charaterization results demonstrated the FTIR spectra tested that OH-PDMS was covalently bonded with polyacrylate in the core part. The DSC curve indicated the polymer had only one Tg. TEM images indicated the emulsion has obvious core-shell structure. Moreover, the application experiments showed that the pigment-printed fabrics using the emulsion binder had brilliant color, excellent rubbing fastness, excellent apprent color-yielding and soft hand feeling.
