As structure material, strength and toughness are two important mechanical targets, up to now, elastomer like rubber is the most popular toughing additive to plastic, dispersing in plastic matrix by some proper methods, but with the increasing of impact strength, break elongation ratio and break work, strength, using temperature and processing capability have some decreases. In 1984, new thought about non-elastomer tough appeared, the concept of Rigid Organic Filler(PSDM) and cold-drawing were introduced, this method can enhance strength and heat-resistant capability, but do nothing to processability ,and achieve the target of toughing and strengthen, which overcome the problem bring by elastomer toughing.This text discuss the influence of disperse methods, such as in-suit bulk polymerization, suspension polymerization and machinery blend, on disperse effect of PSDM. Research indicate PSDM can be better dispersed in matrix by bulk polymerization than suspension polymerization and machine blend. PSDM collected around the hole containing water because of the effect of dispersant and emulsification reagent. Machine blend possess relatively bad dispersing effect.P(St-DVB-MMA)(PSDM) are polymerized in system by in-suit bulk polymerization, research the influence of PSDM content and dispersion status on mechanical capability of material. Study indicate, with the increasing of PSDM content, tensile strength of PS/PB/PSDM keeping stabilization. Putting PSDM into suspension polymerization system, rheology capability has marked change.Through machine blend PSDM are dispersed in matrix, research the influence of PSDM content on mechanical capability and break surface shape. Along the impact direction, study the break surface of different phases from crack solicitation to development to terminate, and take accidence discuss, at last we believe PSDM induce matrix yield to increase the toughness of material.Through the research, we think PSDM has effect in toughing of PS matrix, at the same time has no marked effect in tensile strength decreasing.
