The tobacco industry has significant economic position in our country and its tax is the main source of financial income to the government. But the unsuitable structure of cigarette classes restrained the development of tobacco industry. So there comes an important subject to regulate the product structure and improve the tobacco quality. And then it is the key to solve this subject that how to establish a complete tobacco estimation system from science aspect and how to build up the relationship between the tobacco leaf quality and the sense of people. In a long time, tobacco researchers have made a large amount of experiments and thousands of components in tobacco leaf have been discovered. Facing these large experimental data, tobacco industry needs a means of high-efficient and reliable methods to manage and analyze these data. As a new efficient tool, the computer has been applied in all kinds of professions, and brought a new developmental opportunity for tobacco industry too.This article introduces the process that uses the visual programming language Delphi to develop tobacco quality database management system on SQL Server.This system adopted a rapid ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to build a link with SQL Serve database. It can visit every database conveniently. It also can bypass BDE (Borland Database Engine) data engine and avoid setting complex database parameters. According to the users' actual working condition, we classified the system into four main fundamental blocks: elementary information, experimental data, query results, formulation projects. In this system, we use the conception of OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) to design three base classes: TFormBaseInfo, TFormExamInfo, TFormExamMx. They represent the four main fundamental blocks respectively (query results and formulation projects use one base classes). The sub-block inherits counterpart base class. The application of this technology shortened the period of software development and increases the system maintainability. The developed system can classify, input, modify, search and statistics these data. It is realized to intensive management. This system can improve the ability and velocity of data analysis and quick generate new cigarette formula. This system will play an important role in controlling and improving cigarette quality in tobacco industry.
