Jack-up platforms are in top in number and used widely in all kinds of marine mobile platforms. The general performance is directly associated with the operation performance and safety of the platform. Furthermore, the general performance is the key element to the operation of platform. The main purpose of this thesis is to optimize general design and increase the safety of the platform by studying the general performance.Liaohe No. 1 Jack-up Workover Platform is elevated by pinion-and-rack gearing. The project is of high technology and has many difficulties to overcome. According to the function demands and design environment condition, this thesis analyzes and studies the general performance of the platform, including the typical state determination during platform operating course, estimation of whole weight and the center of gravity, calculation of hydrostatic curve, the direction of external loads and calculation of external loads, floating stability, freeboard, the foundation carrying capacity and platform drawing-leg capacity, supporting stability.Weight and the center of gravity are key parameters of the platform and studied with emphasis in this thesis. Some basic methods and experiential formulas of estimating the weight during planning the platform are also presented.The foundation carrying capacity and platform drawing-leg capacity, especially optimizing the leg-shoe, are studied in detail. Base on large amount of geologic data of Liaohe sea area, the leg-shoe is well designed by detailed analyse and calculation, therefore the platform can be utilized in a relatively large Liaohe sea area.
