A series of novel poly(Aryl ether)s containing phthalazinone moieties are high performance plastics which possess excellent mechanical, thermostable and chemical resistance properties. These characteristics permit PAEs to be used in many engineering applications, often in harsh environments. However, PAEs containing phthalazinone moieties is difficult to process due to its rigid amorphous molecular structure. The PPES/PPS blends with different proportions were prepared with melt-extruding then injection-moulding method. The melt fluidity was improved with the addition of PPS resin. Based on the PPES/PPS blends, the polysulfone(PSF) resin was added to toughen the blending system. The PPES/PPS/PSF blends with excellent properties were obtained, the thermalstability, crystallinity, mechanical properties and morphology were discussed in the paper. The glass fiber and carbon fiber were added to the blends and the short fibers reinforced high performance plastics composites were prepared, the interface characteristic, mechanical and thermal properties, tribological and wear properties were studied. The properties especially the mechanical and thermal properties were greatly improved. The carbon fiber reinforced composites with excellent self-lubricating properties was obtained in this paper.
