The roadway support in soft rock is a cosmopolitan puzzle. The traditional design methods accounts a few influences by variability of physics and mechanics. With the development of the reliability theory, the limited state design method is universally used in the geotechnical engineering.This paper introduces the basic principle of the combined supporting system of roadway in soft rocks, and establishes a modal of the reliability calculation based on the modified Kastner formula and the compound deformation compatibility theory. The calculation method of reliability is given by taking advantage of MATLAB software and rectangular matrix operation. Finally, subject to the cost-benefit criterion, concludes the discussion on optimum design of the combined supporting system and the target reliability in life cycle.The reliability analysis of roadway combination support in soft rock can be used in the design and check of roadway support. This method may be applied far and wide in mine and tunnel project.
