Ceramic-veneer Composites is a three-layers plywood prepared by heat pressing, which composes of ceramic-veneer on the surface and unworked veneer inside. Ceramic-veneer is a material prepared by Sol-Gel method and Vacuum-Pressure method, and constitutes with veneer and ceramic emulsion.The aim of the paper is to improve some performances of plantation-grown poplar, such as hardness, dimension stability, flammability, abrasion performance, etc. The paper chose a kind of ceramic emulsion by studied and compared different emulsion in physics and mechanics performances, and made ceramic-veneer with this emulsion by gel-sol impregnation method. Then determined an appropriate impregnation progress by checking different influence of factors on Weight Percent Gain of the material. The paper also study the making process of the Ceramic-Veneer Composites by checking and analyzing different physics and mechanics performances of the material and then confirmed the best making technics according to the results. This paper also researched the microcosmic states of the composites.The results show that the properties of Ceramic-Veneer Composite prepared by this paper gets comprehensive improvements, such as 24 water absorbability is reduced 78.8%, waterproof capability is enhanced 76.54%, dimension stability is enhanced 10.22%, rigidity is advanced 124.62%, abrasion performance is advanced 53.86%, bond quality is increased 12.16%, MOE is increased 16.50%, and flammability decreased notablely.There are two innovations in the study. MTES gel is used for premonitory emulsion for the first time, and it is also the first time to impregnate inorganic ceramic into veneer to make Ceramic-veneer Composites by Sol-Gel.The Ceramic-veneer Composites not only preserve the excellent properties of nature wood, and also conquer some defects of plantation wood. It has great pertinence to the relative shortage of wood with high quality in China. It is also a further development in the area between wood science and inorganic nonmetal material.
