Wire Cutting Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is an important research field of non-traditional machining , which deals with materials that are difficult to machine and workpiece with complicated surface. The main difficulty involved in research on control system of WEDM-LS, is Pulse generator and movement control. In this thesis, the present development status of WEDM both at home and aboard are summarized. Based on the demand of user,the hardware and software design of WEDM-LS is introduced. Experimental is run on the machining tool. The three research works are mainly included in this paper. Based on the function demand of WEDM-LS, the hardware structure of the movement control system is established , the interface card is selected and the principle of sub-systems is analyzed. On the basis of the work principle of Permanent-Magnet synchronous motor, the AC Servo System of Panasonic is analyzed. According to the definition of control signal of Panasonic Servo Driver ,interface circuit is designed, which make Servo System run stably,safely and reliably. Based on the demand analysis of movement control system software, the software Module is divided and the software of movement control system is designed. According to the modularization standard, the Windows multiple thread mechanism is adequately utilized, which make the thread run under the event trigger of per thread.
