A series of heteropoly compounds have been synthesized by hydrothermal synthetic method and the yields have been increased by controlling reaction conditions. Two novel Keggin unit carbenium ions compounds, [CH3CHCH3]3[PMo12O40] and [CH3CHCH3]3[PW12O40], have been obtained and characterized by IR, UV-spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Thermal stability of the two compounds have also been analyzed by TG and DTG methods. Further more, quantum chemical calculations using DFT and Hartree-Fock methods at different basis sets confirm that the carbocation exists as [CH3CHCH3]+ form.Under apporopriate conditions, a series of metal compounds containing phosphoric acid have been synthesized and characterized by IR and UV spectra. Very similar IR spectra indicate that they are homologous series of compounds. The single crystal of a novel dinuclear compound bridged by phosphoric acid, [Co2(H2PO4)4(C10H8N2)2], has been obtained and X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis shows that the crystal structure of the compound is built up of centrosymmetric dinuclear entities. Thermal stability of the compound has also been analyzed by TG and DTG methods. In addition, three compounds of [MoO2(C9H6NO)2], [Fe(Im)6]Cl2·4H2O and [CuCl(Im)4]Cl have been characterized by IR and UV spectra and their crystal structures have also been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Thermal stability of the compounds have been studied by TG and DTG methods. Electrochemistry analysis reveals that metal centers of [Fe(Im)6]Cl2·4H2O and [CuCl(Im)4]Cl have electron oxidation and reduction.
