There are many polymerization methods to synthesize the ABS resins, and such as continuous mass polymerization and emulsion polymerization. As to the transparent ABS resins, in order to improve the transparency of ABS, the mechanic properties were influenced. As we all know, the rigid particles can increase the tenacity of the polymer, the blending method is most popular. The rigid particles were introduced into the polymer, which can improve the toughness property. But there are few reports to increase the performance through some reactions with the rigid particles. In this paper, we reported a novel approach, emulsion in situ suspension polymerization, to synthesize ABS resin, and using double band to modify the surface of SiO2 particles through situ-suspension polymerization to synthesize the nano-SiO2 composite transparent ABS resins. The mechanic performance is improved with introducing the SiO2 particles. In the situ-suspension polymerization, we discussed many factors such as the kind and the content or the particle size of rubber etc. We mastered the key in the suspension polymerization that the rubber particles disperse equality and the resins remain good impact performance in good transparency and the surface of two phases combined well. So dispersing equality is the premises to synthesize the good performance of ABS resins. In the rubber content, the requirement of rubber need in some range. It's important for the synthesis of high quality ABS resin that rubber particle size does not disturb its uniformity in the continuous phase within suitable rubber content. Appropriate rubber content in the matrix was needed for producing of ABS resin. Excess of the conditions within 20 wt%, it's difficult to form a steady suspension state and the synthesis reactions cease to continue after a short period caused by the collisions among those suspending drops of high viscosity. The factors that affects on the reaction process of emulsion in situ suspension polymerization such as the dosage, sort and particle size of the dispersion-phase rubber have been discussed, distributing status of the rubber particles was studied with TEM. The experimental results indicated that the sort and the size of rubber particles do not disturb its distribution when the dosage is below at 20 wt% in the total content of rubber, both phases of rubber...
