Superoxide dismutase is a kind of iron enzyme that could catalyze the reaction of superoxide anion free radical, and create oxygen and catalyses. Every kind of living creature has superoxide dismutase. At present, superoxide dismutase has been acquired from germs, algae, fungi, plant , insect, fish, birds and animal, and it has been extensively applied to the daily life, such as the cosmetics, medicine, food and the examination of some diseases. Because of the low immunogenic, high content and activity of SOD in animal, it is isolated and purified from animal's blood.Monopterus albus Zuiew is a important freshwater fish in our country. It distributes in all over our country. Monopterus albus Zuiew is favored by many consumers in the world, because it has a plenty of nutrition, meat delicious and has some amino acids that is beneficial to our body and particular officinal merit. There have been many extensive researches about morphology, breeding behavior and ecology. But no researches about superoxide dismutase of Monopterus albus Zuiew .To supply some useful information for further exploration of SOD, the work, including studies on purification and properties of SOD and some effect of chemical modification on activity of SOD has been done . 1 Isolation and purificationClean and grind the liver of Monopterus albus Zuiew with Tris-HCl buffer on hour later, centrifuge for half an hour to acquire the supernatant, secondly, put some butanol in the abstracting liquid to degrease, put it aside for two hour and slowly centrifuge and abandon the pellet .After acetone fractions, resolve the pellet in the water and heat it in the water at 60℃for 20 minutes.
