A New Type Of Copper Corrosion Inhibitor

The present dissertation describes a new type of copper corrosion inhibitor which is called CH. It has many advantages such as no pollution and so on. In addition, it needn't pre-filming by other compound when it is used in circulation cooling water and it can keep great inhibition effects in circulation cooling water containing chlorine gas. The inhibiting efficiency and scale inhibition for CH as copper corrosion inhibitor in distilled water and tap water were studied using the methods of weight loss, polarization curves, SEM and XPS.Results show that CH was an effective inhibitor. The action of CH is increasing the resistance of anodic polarization and cathodic polarization of copper. Increase in film resistance leads to better protection for copper. Additionally, the inhibition mechanism consists of two processes: physical adsorption followed by a chemical adsorption.
