Synthesis And Characterization Of Polysiloxane Liquid Crystals Containing Schiff Base

Chlorobenzene, concentrated nitric acid and benzylchlorine as material, 2, 4—dinitrophenolbenzylether was synthesized in this paper bythe Williamson reaction. The reaction condition and the product was optimized and characterized .and it is very important to the followingsynthesis of a series of Schiff bases.Then 1, 6—hexanediol and others,p-nitrophenol, etc as main materials, a series of new Schiff bases liquid crystal compounds was synthesized by the Williamson reaction andothers .Compounds were characterized and analyzed by ¹H--NMR, IR.So another kind of complicated Schiff base with one hydroxygen group was synthesized and characterized on the base of this synthesis method. Following that, on the way of step coupling polymerization, by means of amination, hydrolysis and polyreaction,etc, a sort of ladderlike polysiloxane was synthesized and characterized by ²⁹Si-NMR DSCand XRD, the result of characterization was satisfying.
