It is necessary to exploit new fuel to substitute oil actively, under the circumstances of difficult resources nowadays. A large amount of by-products are produced during the producing process of vitamin E of Xinchang Pharmaceutical Factory, Zhejiang Province. A certain oily liquid is obtained after these by-products are mixed and the extraneous components are removed, which is found to have excellent combustion performance. The all-around research was carried out in allusion to the by-produce oil. Its chemical constitution and content was identified in the way of GC-MS, and its physical, chemical characteristics and rheological property were studied, in comparison with other fuel oils.Based on the theory of oil drop and atomizing oil combustion, in association with its all kinds of characteristics, the experiments carried out the miniature combustion furnace indicated that it had excellent combustion performance and low pollution emission.Aimed at the high saline matter of the by-product, the disadvantages brought by the ashes during combustion were analyzed. Then, to lower the ash contend, the experiments of selection of demulsifiers and electrostatic desalting were carried out.The condition of combustion in oil-fired organic heat transfer material heaters was described and the corresponding data was measured; then some feasible suggestions were put forward. Last, the temperature field, velocity field and emission of all kinds of fume components were numerical simulated with the software of FLUENT. In contrast with the practical combustion, the simulation was anastomosed well, which provided a valuable and significative reference.
