The FTSC thin slab continuous casting technology of Tangshan iron and steelCorporation is studied, by the way of tracer addition, slab sampling, synthetic analysis, study on the amount, dimension and distribution of nonmetallic inclusion in the thin slabSS400 of Tangshan iron and steel Corporation. Quantitative analysis is done to inclusionswith the multiple purpose metallographic microscopes, and the inclusive contentdistribution figure in different part is drawn. Qualitative analysis is given by KYKY-2800flying electron microscope, it is illuminated by the experiment that the inclusions mainlycome from the productions of deoxidization. It is found that (1) The total oxygen conteutof slab is 8.1×10-6 with the micro conclusion volume 0.12 per centum and the macroinclusions is equally 0.2466mg/10kg, it is high level in cleanliness. (2) Microscopic oxideinclusions appear to be global calcium aluminates inclusions and clump of Al2O3, theybecome the main inclusions of thin slab. (3) It is demonstrated by analyzing the tracer thatthe micro inclusions in slab mainly come from mold flux cinders, secondly the the turdishcover material and molten steel container cinders. (4) It is demonstrated by analyzing thetracer that the macro inclusions in slab mainly come from the turdish cover material andmolten steel container cinders, secondly the melting loss of water gap. (5) The biginclusions are global calcium aluminates inclusions, transparent silicon dioxide inclusionsand complicated compounds.Physics simulation is also carried through in the ladle, tundish and mould. The flowfield of them is also simulated through the Phoenics, and analyses the influence of theaspect to the flow field and comes up with corresponding improvement measures.According to these, it successfully studied the sources, constitutes, types anddistribution of the inclusions during the production process and conditions of HIP—BOF—LF—CC, which has great influence to improve the quality of thin slab and supplythe basic data to develop new products and meet thechallenge of their size.
