There are many kinds of indoor air pollutions, including the TVOC (such as formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene) and carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, radon, bacteria etc. Formaldehyde, which is one of the familiar air pollutions in the newly decorated rooms, with an extensive sources and great toxicity, can cause the symptom of neurasthenic, such as memory letdown and lethargy. Formaldehyde is a shadiness carcinogen by WHO also. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct the investigation of formaldehyde pollution in indoor air and to have the experiment on decontaminating the formaldehyde pollution. This thesis uses the ways of questionnaire and measurement on spot to have an investigation of formaldehyde pollution in indoor air in forty residence houses, twenty-four offices, ten classrooms and forty outdoor measuring spots in downtown Chongqing. On the statistics of the measurement and questionnaire, this paper evaluates the formaldehyde pollution exposure of the residents in those above-mentioned areas. Together with the experiment, this thesis studies the issue of purifying formaldehyde in indoor air using Chlorophytum comosum, Aloe vera in the lab. through setting up the simulative indoor circumstances. It measures the density of formaldehyde with Chlorophytum comosum, Aloe vera placed. After processing the statistics of measurement, it analyses the curve of relationship between the density of formaldehyde in air and time. It evaluates the damnification of plant by formaldehyde employing the the Stat. of the leaf scar. It evaluates the purifying capacity of plants dealing with formaldehyde employing CADR and elimination ratio. Then it founds the new conception of PCADR and builds up the model of plant allocation according to the results of the experiment and progresses the valid experiment. The investigation shows that, it does exist the problem of formaldehyde pollution in indoor air in newly-decorated buildings in Chongqing. And it is fund out that the average daily exposure density of all the ages exceeds the standard after the exposure evaluation. The results of the experimental research show: it has a good effect using Chlorophytum comosum and Aloe vera on purifying formaldehyde. Then Chlorophytum comosum and Aloe vera are damnified by formaldehyde. The results of the valid experiment show: the model of plant allocation is reasonable. It is based theory and referred data for employing plant deal with formaldehyde indoor air.
