From stems and barks of Edgeworthia Chrysantha Lindl., a Chinese traditional herb of China, twenty compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 and high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC), nineteen of them were identified on the basis of their spectral data and chemical evidences. They were determined as: Tetracosanoic acid (I), Heneicosanoic acid 2-hydroxy-1,3-propanediyl ester (II), Docosanoic acid (III), β-sitosterol (IV), 5,7-dimethoxycoumarin (V), Stigmasterol (VI), Docosanoic acid 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ester (VII), Tetracosanoic acid 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ester (VIII), Daphnoretin (IX), Daucosterol (X), Succinic acid (XI), Syringin (XII), Edgeworoside C (XIII), Tiliroside (XIV), Edgeworic acid (XV), Uracil (XVI), Acetamide (XVII), Mannitol (XVIII), 7-hydroxycoumarin (XIX). Compound II was a new compound, compound I, III, VI, VII and VIII were isolated from this genus for the first time. Compound XI, XIV, XV , XVI, XVII and XVIII were isolated from barks and stems of this plant for the first time.Another part of this thesis is mainly reported about preparative...
