Super-smooth surface machining technology is an important part of super-precision machining. With the development of the science and technology, super-smooth surface machining have been mentioned, especially optics material applied with optical instrument,laser and aviation etc. The request of surface roughness is more and more higher. The scientists have done many works and have put forward many new ways of obtaining super-smooth surface which mostly improve settled or disperse abrasive polishing such as mechanical and chemical polishing,elastic emission machining ,float polishing and plasma-assisted polishing. Hydrodynamic suspension polishing is an advanced technology and is fit for the super-precision machining of the optical component. In this paper, the hydrodynamic suspension polishing technology is investigated from theory and experiment. We do some works as follow: The actions of the fine abrasive of mechanical grinding and wiping off the atomy surface by using physical and chemical way form the super-smooth surface. The exterior combine energy is weaker than interior combine energy because of material's external bug and external atom state. The atom combine energy's distribution has its definite rule. The energy wiping off atom is smaller than the energy destroying the atom combine. The outer atom of the workpiece and the outer combine energy of the abrasive is wiped off by subsequent abrasive. The theory of hydrodynamic suspension polishing is analyzed. In this paper, according to the principle of elasto-hydrodynamic and elastic emission, hydrodynamic suspension polishing system is established. Abrasive grains are suspended in the slurry and move with the fluid because of the rotation of polishing tool. There is hydrodynamic pressure close to the small area on the work piece surface. The abrasive grains produce synthesized function to work piece surface by elastic emission and mechanical strike. There are elasto-hydrodynamic in the micro clearance between polishing tool and work piece because of the high speed rotation of polishing tool. The energy transferred by abrasive grains is related with hydrodynamic and velocity of slurry. The flow of slurry aroused by high speed rotation of polishing tool, hence the velocity of abrasive grains is related with the speed of polishing tool. Pressure distribution is analyzed, and the analysis of bearing force of single abrasive particle is done too. Because hydrodynamic suspension polishing is a new super-precision technology, we develop hydrodynamic suspension polishing system for ultra-smooth free-form surfaces based on robot. The system is composed of YR-SV3-J00 robot, polishing equipment, speed variable motor, XY work table,computer and so on. A six-free-degree arthrosis robot produced by electronic company AnChuan Japan. To keep the robot's position and posture, the quality and efficiency will be low when machining little bigger area for robot's figuration and working scope. In addition, the robot can't move at random without restriction for the configuration of the equipment. The robot's working room is limited, so XY work table that satisfies the request by increasing redundance free degree is utilized. This work table can enlarge the working scope with not changing the position and posture. Hydrodynamic suspension polishing liquid is composed of nanometer particle,carried liquid and surfactant. Nanometer particle should have appropriate granularity and rigidity. If the rigidity is high, the efficiency is high. But the surface roughness value is big. If the rigidity is low, the surface roughness value is small. But the efficiency is low. The nanometer particle SiC whose rigidity is 9 has good stability,wearability and enduring high temperature. Water,kerosene and 18#lubricating oil are chosen as carried liquid which requires good hot stability ,low volatility ,wide difference in temperature. The effect of the surfactant are absorbing the nanometer particle surface,forming a cushion layer and avoiding to agglomerate for approaching between nanometer particles. The balance character of closed-water group and closed-oil group is the balance relation of closed-water group and apart-from-water group on strength.
