The Three Gorges Project is an important water project, which will make wide and far-reaching influence on society, economy and environment of Three Gorges reservoir area. Continuous attention has been paid by researchers of all over the world."The Pollutant Loadings Estimation and Query System for Three Gorges Reservoir Area" plays a significant role in the "Ecology and Environment Information System of Three Gorges Reservoir Area". This system studies and measures the three main type of pollutant. Through the estimation result, this system provides the illustration of the extent that the Three Gorges Project pollutes the ecological environment of reservoir area, decision-making support for sustainable development of society and economy of Three Gorges area, and examination for the establishment and implement of reducing pollution policy in Three Gorges area. What is more, this system will account for data accumulation for the evaluation of environmental effects which is brought by the Three Gorges Project.Based on the data from the Pollution Monitoring System, by combining the traditional statistics method, GIS and RS technique, USLE and SCS model, this paper estimates the pollutant loadings of moving source, point source, non-point source, and constructs the estimating model for three main types of pollutant. By Database and DOTNET technique, this system manages to develop the Pollutant Loadings Query System.The novel aspects in this study are as following:This research builds the Pollutant Loadings Estimation System for Three Gorges Reservoir Area, Which includes the measurement for three main types of pollutant and analysis of the trend. In addition, this estimation system points out the main pollutant, which is the main target of pollution controlling.This paper has adjusted the existing methods to fit the Three Gorges area. As following: computing the R-factor in USLE based on the relation between R-factor and precipitation; estimating the C-factor of the whole Three Gorges area by the remote sensing technology, getting the runoff of Three Gorges area by SCS method and the CN is performed by the practical monitoring data.
