Titanium dioxide is widely used in masterbach as inorganic pigments, and the size of the particle is valued by micron. The finer pigments must be surface treated before used for its tendency to agglomerate. The surface treatment of titanium dioxide by coupling agent and hyperdispersant was studied in this paper. The surface functional group and property were changed for improving the dispersibility of titanium dioxide. The modificated titanium dioxide was used for the manufacture of white colour masterbatch . The influnence of surface treatment to performance masterbach was studied.The result showed that the TiO2 surface was changed after coating, and the property of surface variated from hydrophile to hydrophobic. The result is better when the content of the amount of coupling agent was 2 wt % for inorganic coated titanium dioxide. The optimal condition for surface treating titanium dioxide hyperdispersant was obtained to be pH=8,tenperature=50°C and the content of the amount of hyperdispersant was 7 wt %.
