In the view of host-guest chemistry, the novel calix[6]arene-based polymers and calix[4]-aza, thio-crowns were designed, synthesized and their complexation properties were studied. Some meaningful results were obtained.A series of new calix[6] arene polymers containing amido groups and hydroxyl groups were synthesized. It was found that they showed high absorption capacities towards both soft cations and hard cations. On the other hand, calix[4]arene derivatives and new calix[4]crown containing amides and Schiff-base units were synthesized. The extraction experiments showed that new calix[4]arene derivatives exhibited higher complexation abilities than calix[4]arene derivatives containing amides or Schiff-bases only. Calix[4]crown showed high Ag~+ complexation selectivity. Third, a novel calix[4]arene derivative containing amide and thiourea was synthesized. The extraction experiments showed that new calix[4]arene derivatives exhibited good complexation abilities to amino acid. It showed high L-lsoleucine complexation selectivity.
