Slagging on coal-fired boiler in thermal power plant is ubiquitous. It is one of difficult problems which do harm to the safety and economy of boiler. In our country, tinpot coal is the important fuel in thermal power plant. And manifold coal is another characteristic in our electric power. So the problem of slagging is prominent in thermal power plant in our country.Slagging is a complex process. There are a lot of factors which have effect on slagging. It includes speciality of fuel, configuration of boiler and condition of function. But speciality of fuel is the most important factor of slagging. In this paper, speciality of fuel is used to study the mechanism of slagging.Silicon dioxide, alumina, ferric oxide, calcium oxide and sodium oxide are components of samples. Melting rule is studied by heating samples. Changing of samples in the heating process is analysed. Changing of samples in the different ambience is also studied. By analyzing the difference between samples and ash of coal ,the theory of melting is going to apply to thermal power plant.In this paper, slagging judgment method is summed up. And the disadvantage of these method is put forward. A synthetically adjudicate model of component of ash of coal based on the study of before-mentioned examination is presented. The prediction has been determined by the melting point of coal ash.
