This paper discusses the development of supervision of furnace thermal currentintensity and prediction of furnace lining thickness.We develop a distributed temperature-measuring system. The digital sensors areinstalled on the business turn over water pipe in the cooling wall of the blast furnace andmanaged by the temperature modules. The temperature modules carry on thecommunication of the data with the computer. According to relevant data that is gatheredonline and the corresponding mathematics model, the distribution of thermal currentintensity of relevant position are analyzed and calculated by the computer. Thermal currentintensity and change of furnace lining thickness are showed on the screen of the computer.The temperature test equipments make use of DS18B20 as temperature testcomponent, so the hardware is very simple. The industry control computer and temperaturetest equipments are linked through RS-485, so a network test and control system is formed.The system is steady and reliable, and easy to increase the number of test. We program thesoftware with VB6. 0 and set up an Access database to complete the dynamic storage ofdata and offer some operation guidance pictures.It has been proved through practice that using this technology can reflect the changeof the thermal current intensity and thickness situation of the furnace wall in time. It canwell instruct the blast furnace to be operated and be favorable to the direct motion andlongevity of the blast furnace.
