The characteristic of spiral up-flow could form a higher variety of ecological niches available for bacteria with different growth requirements, thus the diversity of microorganism population in the SUFR system was complex, which made the SUFR system had a higher ability of self-instauration and resisting outsider interference. This dissertation laid stress on the circumstance of microorganisms of nitrogen and phosphors removal in the spiral up-flow reactor and carried out a research on the treatment effect of the reactor. It made trial of the effect of growth and biological activity of organic phosphate bacteria in the reactor. The purpose of the dissertation is providing support of examination on the microbiology for the engineering utilization of the SUFR in municipal wastewater treatment. The followings were studied: ⑴Studying on the ecological function of protozoan and metazoan in the SUFR system; ⑵Studying on the ecology of functional Groups of Microorganism in Spiral Up-flow Reactor System; ⑶Making trial of the effect of growth and biological activity of organic phosphate bacteria in the reactor; ⑷Based on the near-native pure culture method, analyzing the culturability of microorganism in the SUFR system; ⑸Deriving dynamics properties of microbial action in the SUFR system. According to the above study result, the diversity of microorganisms population in the SUFR system is complex and the bio-community formed in the SUFR system is stable. The close relations between abundance of bacteria and nutrients were found. The correlation between heterotrophic bacteria and COD was 0.949. The correlation between organic phosphate bacteria and TP was 0.815. The correlation between nitrosobacteria and NH3-N was 0.909. The correlation between disnitrifier bacteria and TN was 0.653. These inneglectable great factors effecting on phosphorus-uptake and phosphorus-release of phosphorus accumulating organisms are the influent COD,the concentration of DO,the sludge retention time(SRT),the temperature. The diversity of organic phosphate bacteria population in the SUFR reactor was complex and there is no phosphate bacteria taking the absolute superiority in quantity. The near-native pure culture method powerfully complement the traditional pure culture technique and enrich culture technique. The sludgy bioactivity is very good in whole SUFR reactor. By the quality of being biochemistry, the anaerobic phase is higher than anoxic phase and the anoxic phase is higher than aerobic phase of SUFR. There was a good correspondence between measured and simulated values of dynamics properties of microbial action in accordance to kinetic equation. The study of this dissertation belongs to the scientific research (2001BA604A01) of Tenth Five-Year plan in china. This research acquired the values of important parameters that could be used in actual design and control, provided support for the engineering utilization of the SUFR in municipal wastewater treatment.
