In order to meet the requirement for the development of advanced manufacturing, the dissertation deals with virtual manufacturing technique by means of virtual reality technology, cyber-network technology, metal cutting theory and NC processing technology, etc. The author has studied on the key technology of Web-based virtual NC milling simulate system. The contributions may be summarized as follows.(1) By means of SolidWorks and Java 3D, the model of virtual NC milling machine and 3D milling scene have been established according to the practical NC milling system. Based the graph technology of Java 3D, the form of model can be transformed, and the transformed model used in simulation system directly. Then it is not necessary to utilize the programming for the implement of the modeling(2) Simulating the milling movement in the environment of Java 3D, and by considering the characteristics of Java and using the dexel-based representation. For the general cubic blank, this method adaptes the combination Elevation Grid node, which can simplify the calculation extremely.(3) By the Visual Basic language, the features of the parts have been extracted in SolidWorks modeling system. By means of comparing the differences between the blank model and the finished product, the locus of the tools can be programmed and inspected(4) The Web-based virtual NC milling system has been developed, and its network environment established on Tomcat service platform, which makes the user to operate the virtual NC machine tool vividly through Web browser. In the meantime, under certain machining conditions, the data interesting for users such as milling motion and milled surface topography can be acquired through the corresponding simulation models and calculation. According to these data, the reasonability of the process parameters can be evaluated. In this dissertation, the author presents the method for improving the virtual manufacturing theory and developing more perfect and applicable Web-based virtual NC milling system.
