In the course of printing, accurate color reproduction is one of our important task. It's necessary to measure and control color information in printing. Current various color-inspecting system and color manage system are effective methods for controlling color, because they have mathematical model for color reproduction of printing, the mathematical model is color prediction model, which can achieve the prediction of color and feedback control. In a word, color prediction model is the base for many applications in printing, so it's necessary to make a further study of it.In fact, color prediction model in printing describes relation between dot area percentage and physical color parameter of prints. When establish color prediction model, we should take all the factors in printing into account. This paper is based on the study of light interaction of ink and paper, and make a improvement compared with the existing models on the distance of light scattering in paper, at last I verify it by experiment. At the beginning of the paper, color and color reproduction is introduced briefly. Then I analyze the light interaction of ink and paper by existing models, including surface reflection of ink and multiple internal reflection of paper, and light absorption and scattering and so on, this is one of stresses of this paper. After that I make a improvement compared with clapper-yule color prediction model on the distance of light scattering in paper, establish new color prediction model. The next part is experiment, at first, I choose a series of samples to measure, then compute parameter m of the new model by making the error between measured values and predicted values achieve smallest through mathematical method. At last, I choose other samples to verify the accuracy of the new model, at the same time make a contrast with existing models, obtain a conclusion. In this paper, the contrast of these model is made by two respects, reflection spectrum levels and color error A Eab, as a consequence, the new model has more accuracy than the spectral Neugebauer model and clapper-yule color prediction model.
