Nowadays, the application of the NC machine tool is more and more extensive,and the NC technique has entered into many fields and has become the key techniqueof international competition. But along with the higher request to NC machine tools,the machining precision has become the obstacle. The error compensation techniqueis a good way to solve this problem, and it has become an international hot researchtask. And it is more important to the machining industry of our country. As theeconomic grows, our demand to NC machines extends increasingly. But, it isimposable to renovate all equipment in used at short time. The error compensationtechnique can improve machining precision with little investment.The development of gear manufacturing technology is lay on the improvement ofgear machining accuracy and production efficiency. In order to improve themachining accuracy of gear, the cause of gear machining error must be understood,thus, the error can be prevented consciously. Aiming at the research status and existentproblems of gear machining error, taking ,NC gear shaper that is studied rarely asresearch object, some issues are studied in this paper.1 The research focus of this paper has been presented based on the developmenttrend and existing problem in research field of gear machining error.2 Because of the universality and generality of multi-body system (MBS) theory,geometry describing method of MBS has been analyzed and the kinematic equation ofMBS has been deduced based on MBS theory.3 Aiming at NC gear shaper YK5120, the measurement and compensation ofprincipal axis rotating error of gear shaper and the process experiment are carried out .The experiment result indicates that some primary test targets are improved indifferent degree.
