At present in the phase change materials researches Microencapsulation is the use of melamine resins and urea-formaldehyde resin as wall material. Because of the effect of these crafts, there may be remaining formaldehyde in the capsule wall, which limits its application. This study explored the topic in the new wall material styrene- meth acrylic acid (MAA).In the paper, phase-change materials microcapsules (MicroPCMs) were prepared by using St-co-monomer as coat of n-Octadecane by emulsion polymerization. The effects of various factors (emulsifier, initiator, co-monomer, the ratio of monomer and core material, etc.) on the preparation, dispersion, heat resistance of MicroPCMs were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DTA-TG, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and Laser Particle Size Analyzer. The optimum process of preparation was identified. MicroPCMs were applied to the coat treatment and wet spinning of PVA. The performances of the products were tested.The results showed that:(1) phase-change materials microcapsules (MicroPCMs) were prepared successfully by using St-co- MAA as coat of n-Octadecane in emulsion polymerization. The favor project had been ensured in the end. MicroPCMs with good morphology and dispersion had been prepared on the condition of that 1.8% the amount of AIBN,SDS as emulsifying agent,30 minutes of emulsifying at 50℃,33% of St the amount of MAA, 1:1the ratio of St and n-Octadecane. DVB wasn't favorable for the process, because it caused the MicroPCMs to present broken hole. Particle size obtained mainly in the 6 ~ 10μm, and had the function of thermal - regulation .TheΔH value of the prepared MicroPCMs was 137.5J/g. (2) dry direct coating process is simple and easy to operate. Adding thickener made the fabric only one side coated, so maintained the softness of the fabric. After coating the finished fabric had the function of phase change thermostat and a certain degree of permeability. When the MicroPCMs accounted for the mass fraction of the finished fabric 20%, its phase transition temperature was 29.8℃, theΔH value was 23.4J / g.(3)when the MicroPCMs accounted for the mass fraction of PVA 3% , phase transition temperature of thermal regulated fiber obtained was 29.8℃, and itsΔH value was 0.64J/g.
