| With continuous development of high-grade highway construction in China,asphalts with higher and higher quality are needed. Most of the asphalts produced inChina can't meet the practical need. At present, modified asphalt is widely used on theconstruction of highways and bridges. It's an important task for highway constructionof China to develop and produce modified asphalt so as to improve the quality and lifeof asphalt road.The application and development of modified asphalt at home and abroad areintroduced. And with the discussion of relative theories for asphalt and modifiedasphalt, we have got the feasibility and test method to develop SBS modified asphaltin PetroChina Jinxi Company. In this test, through the selections for base oil, blendedoil, improver and stabilizer as well as the test of the compatibleness for base asphaltand blended oil, we decided to use vacuum residue from LiaoHe and Saudi as the baseasphalt, the raffinate from Furfural Unit as blended oil and the YH-801 type SBSimprover produced in Sinopec Yueyang Company as improver. Thus we have got themathematical model and component ratio of base asphalt and complex blended oil(blended oil, modifier, stabilizer) for SBS modified asphalt which meet theJTJ036—98 criterion. Further more, process parameters as blend temperature andtime for modified asphalt are also obtained. With these, industrial production issimplified.Compared the SBS (I-D) modified asphalt we developed with foreign famousbrand SBS modified asphalt, the main technical indexes are equal to or better thanforeign famous brand asphalts. It can be used on air port runway and high-gradehighway construction instead of imported asphalts.The successful development and application of SBS modified asphalt willimprove the road quality and drive stability and safety, and it can also solve our needfor modified asphalt .It will bring good economical and social benefits.
