Petroleum paving asphalt is a good kind of paving materials.In recent years, pavingasphalt's productivity fiercely increases from 3500~4000kt/a in late 90s to 9000kt/a of 2003with the nation's increasing investment on highway traffic, and breaks through 10 million tonsin 2004. However, the quality of domestic paving asphalt can't entirely meet the needs ofhighway construction because of the difference in crude oil characters and standards of pavingasphalt hanging behind. Seeing this situation, highway construction departments have to import alarge quantity of paving asphalt every year. To change the current situation, highway scientificresearch institute of the Ministry of Highway Communications revised the standards of pavingasphalt.In order to use Nanyang crude oil to produce paving asphalt in accordance with the newstandards, solvent deasphalting technology is researched of Nanyang vacuum residue, which isblended with FCC decant oil with a large proportion. The result shows that ductility of deoiledasphalt is improved after propane deasphalting when NanYang vacuum residue is blended withFCC decant oil. The ductility of deoiled asphalt can't meet the request of paving asphaltalthough the penetration can do after solvent deasphalting when the ratio of FCC decants oil is30%. The minimum ratio of FCC decant oil is 50% in order to produce qualified paving asphalt.However, because of high wax content Nanyang crude vacuum residue, the quality ofpaving asphalt still be inferior even the ratio of FCC decant oil is up to 50~70%. The 20℃density of Xinzhuang crude oil is 0.9550 g/cm3 , viscosity is quite high, and wax content isonly 3.4%. But higher than 520℃ vacuum residue whose penetration is over than 300(1/10mm)can't be directly used as paving asphalt since the asphaltene content is too low, and needprocessing further.Higher than 500℃ vacuum residue of Xinzhuang crude oil is deasphalted by butane.With increasing recovery of deasphalting oil, the saturated hydrocarbon content of deoiledasphalt goes down, the content of colloid and asphaltene increases, the content of aromatichydrocarbon has no obvious change, and softening point of asphalt rises, the penetration drop.The asphalt indexes can accord with the standard request of 90# paving asphalt when therecovery of deasphalting oil is 40%, but it can only be used as C grade paving asphalt becauseof lower value of PI. The asphalt indexes accords with 70# paving asphalt's request when therecovery of deasphalting oil is 47%m and can be used as B grade paving asphalt. Higher than500℃ vacuum residue of Xinzhuang crude oil de asphalted by propane, and the recovery ofdeasphalting oil is 48.5%, the product still can't meet the request of A grade paving asphalt andonly be used as B grade though the wax content is lower than 2.0% and the PI value is –1.67.
