The fiber strength , which is an important index of the fiber physical properties, is paid much attention during fibers application. Generally, there are two ways to measure the fiber strength. The first one is single fiber measurement, and the second is bundle fiber measurement. The former is fit for the fiber that is relatively even in its structure and properties, such as the synthetic fibers. Single fiber test owns the advantage of accuracy to indicate the fiber tensile properties, but it cost a lot of time to do so much fiber tests, normally 200-300 fibers, in order to get a relatively representative result. The fiber bundle test is proper to measure fibers, which is not very even in their structure and tensile properties. The fiber bundle tester in earlier period are still being used now in China, such as the Y162 bundle fiber tester, stelometer and so on. They are not only outdated in technology, but also supply little information, and can't meet the demand of the industrial mass measurement. The Sirolan-Tensor, which was developed by CSIRO, has great progress in automation measuring, but just for wool fibers. There is an urgent demand for the wool tensile properties evaluation in import and export query business. However, single fiber tensile test is hard to match the measurement of the unevenness of the wool diameters. While the sample making has to be dealt with in the fiber bundle test because of the crimp.The abroad instrument and technology are duplicated or directlyused in recent years. Stelometer and ASTM standard are applicated for cotton and jute test, but are less used now because of the HVI900. But the HVI900 can not solve the jute test problem. There is Sirolan-Tensor used for wool measurement, but it is not fit for other fibers.The research of the functional and intellegent fiber bundle tensile properties evaluation system, not only can measure the fiber bundle directly and quickly, but also realize the interchange from bundle fiber tensile evaluation to single fiber evaluation. The establish of the theory, method and instrument, can not only cover the natural fiber and manmade fiber test, but also fit the other fiber materials, which single fiber test is very hard to archive. The single fiber tensile properties can be acquired from the bundle fiber properties by the bundle to single model.The thesis begins with the relationship between bundle fiber and single fiber properties, and mainly discuss the effect of the bundle fiber measurement parameter on test result, which offer theory support to the bundle fiber tester design. We cooperate with Shanghai PowerEach data instrument Co. Ltd, and give our hardware project and software design to finish the tensile measurement unit. To compare with the exist instrument, the fiber bundle tensile tester is designed by ourselves.
