Now the waterborne intumescing fire-retardant coatings has the problem which the water-resistance and fire-retardant performances are not good in the market. So the highly effective and multifunctional waterborne intumescing fireproofing coatings for wood structure was studied in this paper.The variety and value were selected among the emulsions and the fire-retardant system. It was considered that the formulation was made up of silicone-acrylic emulsion as the binds, the value in the system was 25%30% of the total value, the ingredients of the fire-retardant system were the ammonium polyphosphate(APP) as the dehydration-incarbonization catalyst, the tripolycyanamide(MEL) as the blister, and the pentaerythritol (PER) as the spumific agent, their value was distinctly 20% 25%,10%15% and 4%8% of the total value.Based on the above results, the orthogonal experiments of the fire- retardant system was also applied, and with the coatings' fire-proofing time as the evaluating indicator. By using the L9(34) orthogonal method to optimize the fire-retardant system.It was showed that the value of APP, MEL and PER was distinctly 24.8g, 14.0g and 7.0g. when the fireproofing property was best. With the coatings' fire-retardant performance and mechanical properties as the evaluating indicator, the influence of the proportion between the silicone-acrylic emulsion and the fire-retardant system to the fireproofing performance of the fire-retardant coatings was inspected, It was considered that the prime ratio of them was 30.0 to 40.8.The influence of the pigment to the fire-retardant performance of the coatings was studied. It was considered that the synthesis performance was best when the value of the pigment in the system was 6%7%. We selected the DP-18 waterborne dispersing agent as the moist and dispersing agent of the coatings, methyl silicone oil as the antifoaming agent, and the Trimethylene glycol Phenylate as the membrane-formatting agent, their value was distinctly 0.5%, 0.4% and 1.2% of the total value.We synthesised the fireproofing coatings with the prime value of all ingredients in the system, and detected the fireproofing and physicochemical properties of it by the testing methods given in the part of experiment, and further Attributed the effect of the coatings'fire-retardant and heat insulation with the help of the Photo picture, SEM and DSC-TG analysis method.It was showed that the emulsion-silicone-acrylic-type waterborne intumesct fire-retardant coatings possessed excellent fire-retardant, wonderful physicochemical performance, the fireproofing coatings had the advantage of easily-producing, free-halogen,and good decoration. It is a highly effective and multifunctional waterborne intumescing fire-retardant coatings for wood structure, and accords with the way of the development of the coatings industry, and possess the good foregroundof development and application.
