The study of the theory of degeneration ecosystem restoration and practice is the chief focus of ecology, geography and regional sciences. The typical region and type of degeneration ecosystem were probed to approach theoretic relevant research practice implication. It provides us with resources of water, biology, energy, transportion and traveling, is one of the most productive ecosystem on the earth, and have giant environmental functions and ecological benefits in many aspects, such as adjusting climate, self-controlling water source, storing floodwater for use in the future, avoiding drought, purifying water quality, protecting biodiversity. At present, ecosystems of wetland were regarded as one of the most fragile ecosystems on the earth. It degenerated in different degree, which Influenced the protection and tne use of wetland resources under the natural disturbance and artificial disturbance. Resuming good structure and funtion of degeneration ecosystem and rebuilding degeneration ecosystem were important to wetland protection and regional sustainable development. The paper combines with the "Polder Leveling, Wetland Restoration" project and economic construction in middle reaches of Yangtze river, and selects the wetland ecosystem of Dongting Lake area as research objection. On the base of the research achievement of forefathers, in order to rehabilitate degraded wetland ecosystem, and aiming at providing scientific instruction for the Dongting Lake area and others wetland ecosystem's healthy development and maintenance its ecological function persistenly, this gives out several measures to be taken. There are three parts in the paper. The content in the first part is theoetical reseach, which includes chapter one and chapter two. Firstly, the meaning of the title, research object and differences of studying areahad been recommended and defined briefly. Secondly, the research of ecology restortion was summarized, the paper took the ecology theory as the instruction, using the ecological priciples into the appraisal of Dongting Lake area wetland's ecosystem, and the concepts of ecology resume and ecology were put up. The newest progress of domestic and international research of ecology resume was summed up. The development and research tendency of the ecology resume in future were proposed. Then, theoretical foundation of ecology resume was discussed. And the characteristic of ecosystem of wetland had been described at the same time. The content of the second part includes chapter three and chapter four. This part introduces sceince enviornment of Dongting Lake area firstly, and studys ecology degradation in Dongting Lake area and history of evolution and excess development of the wetland of Dongting Lake Plain, finally, through the method of AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), the Ecological vulnerability in Dongting Lake area was discussed in the paper. The third part includes chapter five and chapter six, which aims at the severe situation of wetland ecology degeneration of Dongting Lake area, under the guidance of the theory of rehabilitation ecology, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the ecology of Dongting Lake area has been discussed. And after the brief introduction of the wetland ecology restoration project in Honghu Lake and South Dongting Lake, according to the theory if ecikigy restoration and the former practical experience, the corresponding overall goal, principle, and the countermeasure of ecology rehabilitation put forward. At the end of this paper, in order to accelerate the rehabilitation of wetland, some likely question were brought with rehabilitation.
