In this thesis, Composites made with Al-Cu alloys and SiC particales or short carbon fibers were prepared by powder metallurgy technology. The mechanical properties of the metal matrix composites in different volume content of reinforced materials were studied. The sinter and heat treatment technics were optimized. The main results show:(1)The mechanical properties of the metal matrix composites were seriously influenced by the interfacial bonding, The pretreatment on reinforced materials will enhance the mechanical properties of the metal matrix composites.(2)With the increasing of the reinforced materials, the compact of composites decreased, the hardness and tensile strength of the composites increased at the beginning then decreased with the continued increasing of the reinforced materials.(3) Using various complex strengthen technique were more efficient than using single technique(4)The optimum sinter technics was sintered in 400℃ for one hour followed by in 570℃ for one and a half hours.(5)After heat treatment, the mechanical properties of the composites were improved greatly. The hardness of the composites was be twice more than before heat treatment and the tensile strength was be increased by about 50%. The optimum conditions of the heat treatment technics were quenched in 500℃ then hold in 160℃ for 16 hour.
