In this paper, six novel silver(I) sulfonate polymers containing neutral ligand weresynthesized, which have never been reported previously. This article represents a systematicalexamination of the structures of the silver(I) sulfonates incorporating neutral ligands. In orderto survey the influence of the propertics of neutral ligands on the structures of silver(I)sulfonates, six kinds of sulfonate anions ligands(L1 = 4-amino-benzenesulfonate,L2=2,5-dichloro-4-amino-benzenesulfonate, L3 = 2-naphthalenesulfonate, L4 =6-amino-1-naphthalenesulfonate, L5 = sulfosalicylic acid, L6= 5-sulfo-8-quinolinol) and akind of neutral ligand(4,4'-bipyridine = bipy, a divergent bidentate ligand) are employed. Sixnovel silver(I) sulfonate containing 4,4'-bipy ligand have been synthesized successfully:Herein, we describe the details of the preparation and characterization of the six novel silver(I)sulfonate polymers containg 4,4'-bipyridine: [Ag(L1)(4,4'-bipy)]n·nH2O(1) ,[Ag(L2)(4,4'-bipy)]n·0.5nCH3CN(2) , [Ag(L3)(4,4'-bipy)]n·2nH2O(3) ,[Ag(L4)(4,4'-bipy)]n·nH2O(4) , [Ag2(L5)2(4,4'-bipy)(2H2O)]n·nH2O(5) and [Ag3(L6)2(4,4'-bipy)]n·nH2O(6). All the crystal structures have been determined by single-crystalX-ray diffraction, and the six compounds can be summarized into one-dimensional chainpolymer structure, however, all the compounds self-assembled into multidimensionalites viahydrogen-bonding and π…π supramolecular interactions. Moreover the luminescentproperties of compound 1, 2 and 5 are also discussed. In addition, the compounds are alsocharacterized by IR and elemental analyses.
