With the wide application of digital technology, Color Management has become a necessary step in the printing digital workflow. Color Management is the fundamental approach to ensure that color information can be transferred and converted correctly between different kinds of devices in digital workflow, so it has become the hot topic in printing field. Color Management is composed of three "C", and they are calibration, characterization and conversion. Among them, the characterization is of key importance.The paper made deep researches on Color characterization methods, device calibration and so on. It put emphasis on color characterization test chart for different kinds of devices. On the base of these systemic studies and large number of industry tests, The paper put forward a practical solution for color characterization. At the same time, a effective color profile evaluation module was established, which included AE comparison, neutral behavior test and gamut comparison .The theoretic research and evaluation module were used in industry workflow and achieved a satisfying result. The result had good value of guidance and application .
