As the manufacture field developing, coming up with many manufacture technology, especially the laser carving technology is widely used.This paper aims at the application of laser carving technology in carving field. For example, the advertise font & badge that we often see is manufactured with laser technology, so the laser carving technology is widely used in the market. Via the investigation of laser machine products, we've found that is high-cost, low-efficiency, and unreliable. So, the main task of this project is to design a new laser machine, which is low-cost, high-efficiency, and reliable.To complete this task, the following work has been done: Re-design the software on PC, following function are concluded:1. Design a new interface of the software, which is more convenience for user.2. The user can directly edit the font, size and other format. At the same time, the interface displays the actual size of carving flat roof. So that, the user can knows the actual size of the character that will be carved later.3. Recognition of character's outline.We've designed a function of recognize the outline of a character, firstly, figure out the outline, and then convert it into instructions that will be used for carving machine. Besides the character recognition, the graphics can also be recognized, which works s as the character does.4. Display the rate of process, which can direct the worker.The rate of process is not displayed in the old carving machine, so the worker can't clearly know how long the carving process will last. We display the rate of process on the top of the software interface, so the worker can easily estimate the time.We also re-design the hardware circuit, the following functions are concluded:1. Design the hardware circuit to control the step-motor.Re-design the schematic, then, convert it to PCB, which is designed by Protel. We use STC89C58 that has a big memory, strong anti- jamming, strong encrypted to protect from copying by others.2. Design the firmware in MCU that will download instructions from the PC. We use Keil & C51 language to design the MCU firmware, which executes effectively. To reduce the developing cost, the newest COM ISP technology is used to burn the MCU without using the programmer. The instructions downloaded from the PC are storage on the Flash inside the MCU.3. The carving machine can work offline, and the system real-time is enhanced, also the product cost is reduced.Conclusion: the creative points & the advantage of our new design.1. Reduce the cost: use MCU instead of PC2. Improve the reliability: MCU control system can' t be disturbed by other software.3. Enhance the real-time: MCU interrupt time is much shorter the PC.4. Improve the efficiency: not only the carving speed is increased, but also the design & carving work can be done at the same time.
