Vibration and lubrication systems are unnecessary for mouldless electromagnetic casting of steel which can reduce equipment investment. If the EMC of steel can be realized, it will bring enormous economic and social benefits. As compared with aluminum, steel has some physical properties, such as higher density, lower conductance. EMC of steel needs stronger magnetic field. The magnetic density to suspend liquid steel is about 4.4 times than that to suspend aluminum liquid. Without increasing power consumption, compound inductor system which adds magnetic material on the common inductor to increase magnetic intensity is brought forth.Soft magnetic materials are chosen to produce compound coil. Based on compound inductor characteristics, Cold-rolled SI-ORIENT-CORE Oriented Electrical Steel Sheets which have broad application in power transformers and mature manufacture techniques are the best choice. Effects of magnetic field are based on the wrapping measures and insulations of Electrical Steel Sheets.The single, double and treble compound inductor systems are analyzed and evaluated by mirror image theory on magnetic field.The magnetic field distributions in compound inductors of different conditions are measured and analyzed using small coil method. The results show that the magnetic field intensities in single, double and treble compound interface inductor system are 1.5, 1.9 and 2.2 times than those in ordinary inductors.Parameters of compound inductor are brought out by analyzing magnetic field intensity and measuring the magnetic field. Hypotenuse inductor is chosen to produce inductor. In wrapping the Oriented Electrical Steel Sheets, the rolling direction must parallel directions of magnetic lines. The gap between compound coil and inductor coil must be the least possibly. The height of composite coil is 20mm. The section area of compound coil is the largest number possibly. The depth of compound coil stretching into the inductor is about 5mm.Compound inductor system can be used in electromagnetic casting of steel. And it can also be used in electromagnetic casting of light metals, such as aluminum. It will reduces energy consumption and generate considerable economic benefits.
