This paper deals with the method to recover cyanide and valuable metallic elements from cyanide-containing wastewater by alkaline ion-exchange fiber, and the main factors relating to the adsorption property of ion-exchange fiber to various ions. The influence factors includes adsorption temperature, time, pH, SO42- and Cl- ion strength. We measured the saturating capacity of adsorption the rate of adsorption and the best conditions of adsorption and desorption to various ions by fiber. As a result, the rate of adsorption to CN" is below 50%, but the rate of adsorption is about 96% after ion-shape exchanged;above 95% Zn(CN)42- would be desorbed by H2SO4, and Cu(CN)42- only reach 50%;above 85% Zn(CN)42- and Cu(CN)42- would be desorbed by HCl. the speed of dynamic adsorption should be controled between 15ml/min and 20ml/min, It can attain a good effect of adsorption. According to the data of above, researched adsorption theory of the waste water after extracted gold, it accords with the confected cyaide solution. The component of cyaide-containing waste water vented some corporation is complexity, so desorption effect of ion exchange fibre is not good by HCl. But the desorption rate of Zn(CN)42- and Cu(CN)42- can reach above 95% and 80% by vitriol and ammonia water, respectively. Furthermore, ion exchange fibre can be reused and not influence its adsorption effect. So it shows that the process not only recovers the toxic cyanide effectively of current, but also selectively recycles the valuable metallic elements in the waste water using this functional multi-molecular material. It improves on the ratio of resource utilization. So it is a double-profits new technology that recovers cyanide from waste water and has both environmental and economic benefits.
