With the garment industry's development and people's requirement for garmentcomfort and fit's increasing, garment production cycle and "made to measure" garmentwas attached importance gradually. Meanwhile, the MTM manufacture mode madeappearance. However, the Somatotype of standard GB/T 1335-1997 was not applicable formass customization. So there comes a related project and this topic.Taking the body form database to meet the demand of garment MTM manufacturemode as a start, obtained the figure data of female undergraduates in the region of MidwestChina by 3D body measurement technology. This paper analyzed Somatotype andestablished a new body size series (garment standard and specification), at last obtainedseries of digital body model and was used in garment MTM software.This paper concludes four Parts:1) The body form's characters research for the female undergraduates. Firstly, bodyform data was obtained by 3D laser body scanner. Then paired T Test, statistical tendency,Correlation and so on were made through SPSS. As a result, female undergraduates' bodyform characters were educed respectively. Furthermore, the change was compared with thedata in GB/T 1335-91.2) Somatotype research for the female undergraduates. On the bases of the factoranalysis, the divided index was obtained. Calculating the synthetically scores,K-meansCluster classify analysis,the body figures were divided into 7 categories: W, X, Y, A, B, C,D. The results of Somatotype expressed body forms of female undergraduates from smallto big. Furthermore, 12 representative indexes were obtained in expressing the differencesof body form.3) Body size series established for the female undergraduates. According to therequirement of garment MTM manufacture mode and the standard body form of 7categories was decided respectively. Thereafter, to meet the demand of garment MTMmanufacture mode, 2.5·2 series was decided and established. And the key position's dataof every body form in the series was decided to be used as the standard body form data thatis prepared to be used in the database of the garment MTM system. Furthermore, multipleregression of each key position index to body height and breast girth was analyzed, interms this, fitted garment pattern was got responsibly.4) Digital body model established and application of garment MTM software. Basedon the research result, the digital body model of female undergraduates was obtained. Theseries of digital body model were laid out in 3D reverse software. Furthermore, the seriesof body form were practiced well and accurately in garment MTM software FitNet thatfrom Lectra Company. According to index of breast girth, the software fast obtained 12characteristic body aspects, carried out the figure identification, then conserve the outcomewhich was convenient to select and load.
