Organic electro luminescent (EL) materials are the substances that give out lights whenexcited by electric field. We call them electro luminescent materials because they are on theprocess translating the electric energy into optical energy. Considerable efforts are beingdevoted to the development of OLED (organic light emitting diode). Advantages such as lowcost , passive luminescence ,full-color can be observed through the displays based on organiclight emitting diodes .It is believed that OLED is the perfect candidate that can take the placeof LCD by many professional .By now ,efforts focus on developing more luminescentmaterials which can bring us pure, sharp and high-efficiency red ,green or blue light , theoryof charge injection and transportation ,and packet technology .Although we have synthesizedso many luminescent complex that can be used as luminescent material ,lanthanide complexmay be the only choice when it comes to high-definition displays for its pure, sharpcharacteristic luminescence . Because of these, organic electro luminescent materials have theapplication to the super thin and big area flat display, manufacture of folding " electronicsnewspaper" and high-efficiency outdoors and indoors illuminating apparatus and havebecome a new research hotspot of electro luminescent realm and attached importance bychemistry, optics, materials and the related science realm extensively. The β-ditones andthe match thing of its derivatives be the mufti-functional materials in the metalsorganic LCD, the extract reagent, chemical shift reagent and the defend false material, etc.have already caused the widespread interesting. Recently, it is discovered thatp-ditonescompounds have Photoluminescence(PL) and Electroluminescence(EL) flaring dualproperties, can also take place the certain interaction with gene, and have good appliedforeground to the development of the new mufti-functional materials.The development status, device structure, materials of OLED and the degradationmechanism are briefly introduced in this paper. On the base of analyses of research workrelated to, we have made it sure to target with rare earth complex. Through quantities ofexperiments and deep speculations, we have designed and synthesized novel β-Diketonaterare earth complex as electroluminescent material. At that time, we manufacture the MCM-41assembly which can emission white color light.
